Beginning Fused Glass Part 1, 9 to 12
Prerequisite: This class is for non-members and members. This is an introduction to fused glass. You will learn how glass directly interacts with heat, how to safely cut and fuse glass into functional artwork with color and form used the Morton board system. Cost of the class is

Circle Cutting May 9, 6 to 8 p.m. Limit 6 Cost $20.00
Prerequisite: All members will enjoy this class. The studio has two types of circle cutters. This class will demonstrate both, provide glass to practice, and the opportunity and support to make your own project. Bring your own glass to cut two circles up to 8”. Circles cut better if there is ample glass around your score, so bring two pieces of glass at least 10” square. One clear is recommended. You will be introduced to many of the tools available in the studio and given the opportunity to practice using glass provided. Then, let us cut some small circles! You will create a final piece cutting a circle using the small circle cutter. Materials to make it your own will be provided.

Kiln Carving with 1/8” Fiber Paper: Prerequisite: This is a great class for all members. It is a terrific technique that allows you to make custom designs out of fiber paper and impress them in the glass during fusing.
“Kiln Carving” is a technique that achieves a bas relief, textured, or sculpted look in fused glass when the underside of the glass conforms during firing to the cut fiber paper pattern. It’s like creating your own textured mold! A number of finished example pieces will be shown as well as various hanging methods illustrated. While the major focus will be in learning the basic “how to,” each participant should be able to make at least two items (2” X 2.5” ornaments, pendants, or sun catchers). A number of images will be available other than a heart. After this, the sky is the limit in creative possibilities.
Clear glass and fiber paper will be provided. Bring a craft knife like an X-Acto. To be safe, bring a good dust mask and if your skin is sensitive like mine, wear long sleeves.

Vase using Glass Strips
Prerequisite: All members will enjoy this class. Learn how to use some of those long thin pieces of glass you have left over from another project and make a tall votive style vase like we had for centerpieces at the holiday party this past December. Glass will be provided, but if you have a particular color you want to incorporate in your vase and the glass is at least 7” long and 3” wide bring it with you and we will help you use it. Prerequisite: All members will enjoy this class. The studio has two types of circle cutters. This class will demonstrate both, provide glass to practice, and the opportunity and support to make your own project. Bring your own glass to cut two circles up to 8”. Vase using Glass Strips

Learn how to use some of those long thin pieces of glass you have left over from another project and make a tall votive style vase like we had for centerpieces at the holiday party this past December. Kiln Carving with 1/8” Fiber Paper: Make a Heart for your Valentine!
Prerequisite: This is a great class for all members. It is a terrific technique that allows you to make custom designs out of fiber paper and impress them in the glass during fusing.
“Kiln Carving” is a technique that achieves a bas relief, textured, or sculpted look in fused glass when the underside of the glass conforms during firing to the cut fiber paper pattern. It’s like creating your own textured mold! A number of finished example pieces will be shown as well as various hanging methods illustrated. While the major focus will be in learning the basic “how to,” each participant should be able to make at least two items (2” X 2.5” ornaments, pendants, or sun catchers). A number of images will be available other than a heart. After this, the sky is the limit in creative possibilities.
Clear glass and fiber paper will be provided. Bring a craft knife like an X-Acto. To be safe, bring a good dust mask and if your skin is sensitive like mine, wear long sleeves.

You will learn different ways to make jewelry. Demo on using Frit molds, Scrap-ology, how to
work with Dichro and special grinder for jewelry, etc. You will make one pendent and two sets

Ring Saw Class Limit 4 Cost $5.00
The studio has two ring saws. In this class you will learn to use the ring saw for difficult cuts. Glass is provided as well as everything needed to decorate a butterfly. Both stained or fused glass artists will enjoy this class. Signup online Jo Anne Bowman

Beginning Fused Glass Part One Limit 4 per class,
Prerequisite: This class is for non-members and members. This is an introduction to fused glass. You will learn how glass directly interacts with heat, how to safely cut and fuse glass into functional artwork with color and form used the Morton board system. Prerequisite: Please have fused at least 4 projects. If you do stained glass, there is no prerequisite. Please bring the tools you own.
You will be introduced to many of the tools available in the studio and given the opportunity to practice using glass provided. Then, let us cut some small circles! You will create a final piece cutting a circle using the small circle cutter. Materials to make it your own will be provided.

Prerequisite: All members will enjoy this class. You will make a pendant and matching ear rings. The metal casing is silver. Helpful if you know how to cut a circle.
